People don’t want favors in the first place. How much fun is it to walk down the street to the parking lot, carrying a scented candle?
Don’t buy favors, don’t be absurd. If you invite people to your wedding, your interest is in being a good hostess. Make them comfortable while they are there, then let them go home. Don’t make them carry a trinket back to their car!
Think about your children and whether you should add to the plastic landfill tragedy.

Personally, I don’t care about the wedding favors. Sadly they probably get tossed anyways unless you make something practical that people like. I’ve heard people are starting to make their own favorite mixes of songs and burning them on CDs. That’s cute and won’t get tossed.

If you don’t go cheap on the food, no one should think you are cheap. Favors are just little trinkets anyways.

Why do favors at all? Its just a little something that gets thrown at the bottom of someones purse or left in the car only to be thrown away. I know everyone is like "oh how cute"but really its just junk. The favors was one thing I cut out of my wedding and I really don’t think anyone even noticed.

I’m doing some cheap favors. That are SUPER cute. Just personalized shot glasses but they ate like $1.25 each total. Then adding some hershey kisses to them. They look much more expensive then they really are and people can use the shot glass or put a candel in it. They are great.

Well if they look incredibly cheap and people will probably throw them away, why waste your money on them in the first place? I do think you should give favors, as it’s expected. But don’t get something you yourself wouldn’t want.
Even if you wrap up some mints in some tulle or something, (probably about a quarter per guest!), at least that’s something they’ll probably use. Go with something simple like that, that can look classy.

Depends on your definition of cheap. If you mean cheap construction, then yes it will reflect on you. However, a cheap price for good quality is always wise.

I plan on spending less than $1 per person for favors. At walmart you can get tealight candle holders in the shape of hearts for like 56 cents. Then all you do is add a scented tea candle, if bought in bulk are super cheap. Then wrap in tulle, tie with ribbon and there you go!

the classiest, the most generous, the most remembered thing you can do is in lieu of favors make a donation to your fave charity! have your m.c. or best man announce it at the reception! sweetie it would be so much better than getting yet another candle, shot glass, coaster, or c.d., or candy or anything!
we were recently at a wedding where the bride and groom made a donation to the heart and stroke foundation, and instead of clinking our glasses if we wanted to see them kiss we had to donate a buck! they donated three dollars for each of their two hundred guests and then all the bucks they collected for kisses amounted to over five hundred dollars - their guests were thrilled!
the idea caught on and the wedding we are going to next week are donating to the kid’s hospital in lieu of favors and doing the same buck for a kiss!
perhaps you could do something along that line.
