Bird Seed and bubbles tend to be favorites that are used. Bird Seed takes place of the rice which birds can choke on. Just..if you put bird seed in little bags or make mesh nets and tie them…make sure the guests untie the bag. My brother-in-law's sister "forgot" to untie hers and just threw the bag. :)

For something original try oxfam unwrapped. The gift goes to the peole that need it most (eg blankets / school equiptment for refugees) and your guests get a card explaining the donation that has been made on thier behalf.

1 small potted plant per family, or a donation of some kind (perhaps to some sort of "green" initiative?

Donate the money that you have alotted for favors to one of your favorite causes or charities. Put that information on your ceremony program or in a frame on the guest book table or gift table.

The world is full of dumpsters that are filled with wedding or table favors. We don't need any more votive candles or book markers or key chains or favorite music CDs.

And here's another idea . . take the money that you would spend on favors and buy a tree. Plant that tree in your front yard or in a park for everyone to see and enjoy.

donate the money that you would have spent. instead of giving favors (more then half of mine were left at the tables!!) we wish we would have just donated the money we spent and made a little card (on recycled paper of course!) at each table.

I really think the best thing is a packet of seeds. We got a pack of Forget Me Nots from a wedding in October, and enjoyed planting them in the spring.
