What do you think about a candy buffet for my wedding instead of a favor?

Give each person a small chinese takeout box with our initials and have several glass containers with our favorite treats and tell them to help themselves.

Great! I Love it!

That is definitely unique. Your idea really depends on what kind of wedding you are having. That wouldn’t go over well at a fancy wedding. But, a more laid back, casual affair would be a great time to use this idea.

That is a really good idea. Cause it’s not the usual favor and it’s special to you. Go with it.

I think that is a very unique idea. You may want to make sure you have some sugar-free items, because so may people do not eat sweets, or eat very little sweets. You could also add some small packs of nuts or dried fruit.

I love it!!!! And so will they! It’s different but at the same time not extraordinarily, off the wall, different. They still get favors, but they get to have as many as they want there, and take the rest home, AND still get to keep something as a memory. Great job! Hope you go with it.

I think wedding favors are stupid. No one really keeps them any way except maybe your mother- and you can make something nice for her.

The candy buffet Idea is alright.

That sounds so cute. I’d do it if I had the money in my budget. Just make sure you have enough for people who want to take more. (you know they will!)

Boy do you have a lot of time on your hands. I think it is lovely that you want to do something fun for your guests but they are there to witness your marriage not trick or treat. I just think it sounds so trivial. But this is your day and you should do what ever makes you both happy. Best wishes.

That’s a very original idea, and allows your guests to choose what they want instead of just having a treat given to them. I bet it will be really pretty, too! It may be difficult to avoid disappointment if you run out of any one thing, though… just a thought.

I think you should skip "favors" entirely and use the money for either a better party, a better honeymoon, or toward future expenses. Giving a "favor" to each guest is a practice invented by "the wedding industry" in its ongoing quest to enrich itself by convincing gullible brides that they MUST entertain on the same grand scale as The Rich and Famous. If people MUST have a "souvenier", then they can put the invitation in their memory album. Goodwill Stores are full of "wedding favor" junk that nobody wanted.

That is a really neat idea. It’s something they can take home and enjoy after the festivities are over. There will be little to through in the trash, after the souvenir has been enjoyed.

just make sure you have plenty of candy, especially in case kids get their hands on it! also, try to stick to individually wrapped candies instead of loose M&Ms and that sort of thing if you’re giving them boxed. if you plan for the buffet so also be the dessert after a meal, you can have some things they can scoop out too.

OMG that’s the cutest thing I ever heard! Do it! What a good idea!!! Works really well too if they all know you have a sweet tooth, for a good representative token of you!

It’s great. Don’t listen to the people who say it’s not nice enough for a formal wedding. I went to a very fancy black tie wedding where they had a candy bar set up and everyone loved it. Rich business men were like little kids picking out their bag of candy. Do it!

I would fill the chinese takeout boxes myself and have your initials or names printed on the box and tie ribbons on the boxes to make them festive. People will feel kind of odd dipping into candy jars, I think…but if your are reallly young , maybe not. Go for the candy idea, either mine or yours….

I’m doing something very similar. We are calling it the Candy Bar, my fiance loves the pun and giggles every time I say it. We decided to go with this since so many wedding favors end up being thrown away because they are useless, and this way people can pick what they want. It’s usually impossible to find one gift to suit everyone. And it’s saving us money because a bunch of his aunts are making candies and chocolates for us as a wedding gift.
    Good luck and congrats.

It sounds like a good idea but you have to think about some things. (1) your budget <its cheaper to buy just one candy versus a whole different variety> (2) favoritism over certain candies <will some get stuck with candies to choose from that they dont like because the others ran out> (3) how much will each person take……etc.

    GOOD LUCK
