I am having a fall themed wedding in october and I want some really cool and original ideas for wedding favors. I don’t want to spend a fortune on them but I want them to be something really neat. I am creative but for some reason, out of everything I thought of and have seen so far I haven’t heard that one thing that just jumps out at me! Please help! Thanks!
The thing about favors is that brides agonize endlessly about them, and guests don’t value them. There is nothing you can think of that will be so cool that most of your guests don’t think they are dustcatchers. Your guests come to the wedding to honor friends & family connections. They don’t want a takeaway, half of them are feeling guilty because they’ve heard brides whining about wanting to ask for gift cards because the wedding is so expensive. GIve some nice candies in a small net bag and leave it. Don’t add to the landfill.

We got married at the end of October. For our favors, I ordered a bunch of tulle ribbon in bulk online and braided harvest knots. They can vary in size, but for ours, each harvest knot required nine ribbons about ten inches long. Braid them into three different braids. Then braid the three braids into one braided strand. Wrap it around kind of as if you are tying a knot, only do not pull it tight. Secure the ends together by tying another piece of ribbon around them to hold them in place. Ta-da! We then got the business card paper from Office Depot and printed out business cards with our names on one side and something else on the back. Each card was hole-punched and tied to a harvest knot. The ribbon can be bought in many colors to match up to the colors of your wedding. They looked nice, and since they were hand-made, they seriously cut down on the cost for favors.

I got married in the fall and we just had simple white favor boxes full of fall colored kisses. The cool thing is, we bought some ribbon and silk flowers and decorated them to look really nice. It brought the whole table together! You can do amazing things with a simple boring favor box. Look at weddingstar.com They have TONS of favors!!

We went to a beautiful fall wedding last year. For the bridal shower, she had leaf shaped cookie cutters tied to a cookie recipe. For the favors at the wedding, she had fall colored raffia ribbon tied around a packet of apple cider with a cinnamon stick. It was so simple, but very pretty. It was reasonable for them because they had about 300 people invited. She also had small pumpkins and gourds simply carved with tea lights inside. That was nice. At the head table, she had a huge pumpkin carved with her wedding date and their names, really different ideas.

My best friend got married this past October and they had a fall theme. The tables at the reception were named after different types of apples (the bridal table was the Royal Gala table) and then their wedding favors were carmel apples. It was really cute

I am also having an October wedding and we are doing small jars of jam. You can buy them online and have personalized labels made! My mother actually makes jelly, so she’s going to do ours for us.

It’s hard to beat caramel apples for guest appeal, they’re impressive and people love them … but it’s hard to find them cheap.
One thing a lot of brides do in the fall is fill a pretty favor box with peanut butter cups. They’re pretty nice for the season when you think about it and not too $$$.
Another thing you could do, create a gourmet cocoa mix for your guests. Get clear cellophane cone bags like these, http://www.favorideas.com/shopping/prod/SF-bag_clearcone.htm, and bulk cocoa mix, and then ‘upscale’ the mix by adding a quality cinnamon, or grind up white chocolate to a powder in a food processor (delish), or add crushed mints or even a pinch of cayenne. Or whip up a few varieties so your guests can trade. Even when you add a personalized label from your printer this would be cheap, custom and cool.
