What kind of candy won’t melt in hot weather that would be good for an outdoor wedding reception?

I am looking for suggestions on what to give my attendants for a wedding favor. I wanted to do m&ms but if the weather is 90 degrees out then I am hesitant to buy something that will melt. Does anyone have any ideas? I bought some small baskets to put the favors in (with the plan of buying candy to fill it with). The wedding is in mid July and the reception will be under a tent.

Tootsie pops! I wonder if you could get personalized wrappers for them.

Anything that’s not chocolate. Lollipops, mints, jelly beans in your wedding colors, rock candy and things like that.

Try Cotton Candy, or how about skittles, they are not chocolate so they wont melt that easily in only 90 degree weather

Do the sugar-based candies: Smarties, Spree, Jelly Bellys, for example.

Stay away from any gummi candy like sour patch kids, or hard candies like Jolly Ranchers because they do get sticky in high temperatures.

Those Jordan Almonds, they’re really good : ) and the hard candy shell wont melt

A wedding I went to had white ones wrapped in white netting in a little bundle with white ribbon and our names (as place holders at the tables / fun things to eat)

They looked cute, classy and they were inexpensive : )

Rock candy is a great idea! You can get them in your colors to make them more personalized, and they always look so pretty. You can also do skittles and pick out the ones that aren’t your color (or just use them all) and perhaps you could figure something else out if you want m&ms…like keep them near the drinks which have to stay cold so they won’t melt as easily. Or put them in something with a lid so the sun can’t get to them so easily (just make sure it’s not glass!). Good luck!

Hard candy, or pillow mints. And both of those come in a varaiety of flavors and colors, so I’m sure you could color coordinate if you wanted to. Even lollipops. You could do fun bouquets of lollipops as decorations, and as delicious snacks. Have fun!

peppermint…the lolipops that you get from your doctor’s office. M+Ms shouldnt melt, unless you are in some very humid weather…then the shell would probably lose it’s coloring, but not melt.

Jelly beans, Mike&Ikes, licorice, Tootsie Rolls (I know they are chocolate but they dont melt, I used to send them to my brother when he was in Iraq), party mints, lollipops, hard candies, hard caramels (like Worthers), butterscotches, Lifesavers creamsavers, nerds, sweetarts, those valentine candy hearts….

    Hope this helps!

Even lollipops melt… trust me. Go with a rock candy, jelly beans are best, or non-sticky items.

    You are very thoughtful!

    Congrats & Good Luck!

I thought that M&Ms wouldn’t melt in your hand. I guess that pecan pralines and peanut brittle would not melt.

If it’s under a tent you should be ok with a lot of things, it’s good to know you have options. Chocolate is a no no even if you have a tent, it gets warm it melts…! Go with mints, or like life savers, soemthing hard like lollipops, or even sugar coated candy. Gummis are good also, they’ll hold up in the heat…especially under the tent.

Congrats on your up coming wedding!!
