I have looked for ideas and I keep finding the same things; I don’t want anything my guests can eat–candy etc. No beer huggies, or personalized water bottles…something original. Any ideas?
no favours! make a donation to your fave charity instead of wasting money on something that most of your guests won’t appreciate and will likely leave behind. please don’t take offence - we all have enough favours sweetie - we are there to see you marry your man and we would much rather you give that money to a charity!

Anything beach-themed, even pretty seashells.

What do you have in mind? What types of things say ’summer’ to you?

My personal opinion is to donate to a charity or organization in your guests names. Example…St Judes Children’s Research Hospital in Tennessee. You know, the one Marlo Thomas promotes? Well, if you go to their website, they actually have favors to give out explaining the donation. You can order as many as you need, there is no minimum donation, and St Judes accepts all children for treatment, regardless of their parent’s ability to pay. I, thank God, have never had to take a sick child there, but would help and encourage anyone who needed treatment to make the trip. $.85 of every dollar goes to patient treatment and research. Other than something like that, I find favors to be ridiculous. I don’t want anything with the couple’s names and wedding date on it to keep forever. I would rather that $$$ go to something worthwhile. It’s very simple, it’s great karma, and I’m sure many organizations have something similar, but St Judes is my favorite. Good Luck and have a beautiful day, whatever you decide!

It depends on the budget per favor. If it’s a garden wedding, parasols go down a treat and if you get the bamboo ones they are not that expensive either, about $5 each if you buy in bulk. or you could do sandalwood fans, they come in pretty presentation boxes that you could tie a ribbon around to match your colors. another popular one is little bottles of personalized bubbles.

I like the idea of giving a charitable gift. Here are a few sites that will help you make a charitable donation: http://www.squidoo.com/weddinginfatuated

I made my candy! You can order personalized mint trays on wiltons website and then fill them with either mint or chocolate flavored candy melts…OR… if you have a little bit of money to spend consider personalized mandms with your pictures on em!

second vote for the sandalwood fans, they are luxurious-looking and actually useful when you hand them out. I wouldn’t throw away a sandalwood fan.

Summer is the most awesome time for weddings - congrats! Guests love to get favors - especially ones that are practical for them after the event. There are currently some really cute Flip Flop themed favors available - frames, candles, placecard holders, magnets… Seashells are also great, and available in many ways, too. I really like using Frames because they are so versatile. At the reception, you can use them as placecard holders and frame people’s seat assignments. Or, you could put your engagement photo in them. Or you could frame a really nice Thank You message. After the wedding, you could include a picture of you and hubby that guests can frame later on. Other thoughts… people really like to receive barware, and there are wine bottle stoppers and openers with ocean/beach themes available. The link below will take you to a page with all sorts of summer themed options! Again - congrats!

For my wedding I made soaps that look like ice cream/cookies/candy/cupcakes. My guests loved them! I made them out of shea butter and goats milk. So even if you had sensitive skin, they could still use them. The adults loved them more than the kids did! It was something unique that they actually used, and didn’t have to keep around forever. I made centerpiece ice cream sundaes for my cousins wedding too!
They are a great conversation piece!
