I’m having an ocean-theme wedding and want to give favors that people will actually keep, or remember us by.
My best friend had a beach themed wedding. For their favors they had those drink cozy things printed up with their names and wedding date on it. They were teal because that was their wedding color.I’ve found that most people don’t keep favors from weddings. From my own wedding I found out that favors have more significance to the wedding couple than the guests. My fiance and I spent alot of time coming up with unique favor that were special to us and half the people didn’t even take them. Not out of disrespect…just because it’s not as significant to them. My friend had the right idea….it was unique and fun. Not too expensive. And whoever keeps them will think of the couple every summer when they need a cold drink.

I have a coffee cup that has Hank & Georga on in from 1968.

One wedding I went to was under a light house in Boston, they gave a bottle of Lighthouse red wine that they had the labels printed for the bottles with thier names on it and it was killer. Check out the website and see.

Stick with edibles. If you like, perhaps you can come up with a special recipe for candy shaped like shells or a special cookie and include it with the goodies so people can recreate them in the future.
Otherwise, favors are cheap junk and trust me….nobody keeps them.

at a friends wedding we received "sun catchers" they were made by the brides mom but they aren’t hard to find and mine still {10 years} hangs in a window and reminds me of their wedding. Congratulations & Good Luck & God Bless!!

You can buy shells at craft stores. Why not find a way to paint your initials on them?! Like P.S. + G.V. (sample letters provided of course!), and then the date of your wedding - even if it’s only the year!

I really like the first one, but it may be a bit pricey. The second ones are cute, I liked the third ones until I realized that they kind of look like a certain male appendage=)

Well, my wedding was a Christmas wedding. Next to the door of the reception hall, I had a Christmas tree and a bunch of decorations on it, and the guests just took one off the tree when they left, and that was the favor. That way, they could put it on their tree. As far as an ocean-theme, I’m not sure what exactly, but I’m sure there’s something you could do like that to suit your theme.
Good luck.

my husband and i came up with our favorite little quotes about love and printed them out. i made little books with the quotes in them, our names and the date on the cover. many of our friends still have them.

What about those shell necklaces my friends gave these out at their wedding (12 yrs ago) and every summer its the first thing I see that reminds me of summer and their wedding. Congrats on getting married.

ANYTHING THATS DIFFERENT AND UNIQUE

You could make or buy cheap shell shaped frames or shell decorated frames. Inside the frame you could put a copy of the invite, picture of the ocean or a favorite quote you have. You could also just have a nice frame with an ocean picture in it too, and you could write a nice message on the back or engrave the front with something too.

My friend had little coin purses as favours for the girls at her wedding in March in nice autumn colours to match the season and also a fortune cookie to go with it.

Pet goldfish! They are cheap and cute and easy to take care of and hard to kill off compared to other fish . . .
Or your centerpieces could be fishbowls with actual fish in them. That would be cute.

Candy, cookies, candy apples, nuts or mints, etc. Something edible.
Guests don’t usually want a keepsake. They get thrown in junk drawers and they’re a waste of money. People will remember your wedding if you serve good food and drinks, have decent entertainment, show that you’re enjoying yourself and if you’re gracious and thank them for being there to celebrate with you.
References :
Stick with something they will eat. They will remember you because they love you, not because of some trinket they take home from your wedding.
If you really want to give something non-food, give something practical that they will see your name when they use it or think of what a cool idea it was to hand them out. I can’t think of anything that fits in an ocean-themed wedding other than fish-hooks but that’s a crummy idea because lots of people never fish.
Don’t give away live animals (i.e. fish). These are living breathing creatures, not gimmicks.

I think a lot f people just throw wedding favors in a bid to never be looked at again. I would suggest to you to make donation to your favorite charity in your guest’s honor.
my cousin did this for the cancer society, and i have told a few other people on yahoo answers this and a lot of people actually told me they would listen to me and not give favors but make a nice contribution.

Unfortunately, most favors aren’t even taken home. It would be sad for you to take the time to choose favors then for the vast majority of them to be left on the tables. This is why many choose to have chocolates as favors. So, here are a mix of favors to be inspired by (some edible and some keepsake favors).
