I have a good answer You can raise awareness and help any number of good causes.
Make a donation in your guests’ names to a favorite charity, like the humane society. You can then get a piece of recycled paper and make a bookmark or just a little notecard with a stamp and maybe a cute ribbon or piece of raffia (biodegradable). Stamps aren’t wasteful. Make the stamp charity-related, like a ribbon for a Race for the Cure donation. Then put the charity name and website or phone number on the bookmark. You can easily get a stamp for 6 or 7 dollars, paper is cheap, and ink too. Just look for coupons.

what would be cool was if you did like what my cousin did at her beach wedding, you buy cheap photo frames, and buy some shells, or collect them, and stick them all around the frame, a FRAME for each family/couple. Try and take a photo of the family with the bridal party, and once the photos are developed you can put the photo in the frame, or if you cant find a photo of them with you on the special day, you can just put the bride and groom in it, im sure it will look really nice, and its not exspensive.

Favors are generally lowbrow. You can omit them. Instead, why not stun and surprise your guests by writing prompt thank-you notes and mailing them thru the post office.

pretty much favors will always end up in the garbage and if you figure they have wrappers or such when people open them that trash is going to be strewn across the table making them look like crap.

your best bet would be to not worry about favors for the guest. in all honesty out of all the high end weddings i have seen on TV.. they don’t have favors on their table.

it’s a alot of money to spend that not many will keep

look online, http://www.theknot.com has personalized candy favors. That is actually what I was thinking of doing. It just doens’t seem worth it to me to spend $1+ per guest on something they probably don’t want anyways. Something else I am doing - I bought a bunch of votive candles (the kind already in glass that you can’t remove) and I am going to get personalized tags and tie them on with ribbon that matches the wedding colors. Then when it’s dark (it’s an outdoor wedding/reception) we can light the votives. If anyone wants they can keep a votive candle as a favor.

Flip flops with personalized tags on them. Find a wholesale dollar store supplier and see how cheap you can get them.

Personalized BBQ sauces. wait til they go on sale 10/10 soak off the label and stick on some you print off ur home computer.

Personalized travel mugs. You can find these at a dollar store wholesaler as well. Use a stencil to paint on ur names or go to a local sign shop and have the names cut from vinyl to stick on them.
