is this wedding favor have cheap written all over it?

we’re having a new years eve wedding and we’re on a tight budget. we have the idea of personalized packets of hit chocolate (shown here: http://www.beau-coup.com/wedding-cocoa-favors.htm) but a friend of mine said it is tacky. any opinions?
it’s not really about the chocolate… it’s about the HOT chocolate (coffee, whatever) something that goes with winter.

I think its cute. Its doesn’t have to be expensive or fancy. For our wedding I bought some tulle and M&M’s. Put the M&M’s in the center of a small piece of round tulle and tied it off with a ribbon and note that said "Thank You". Everyone seemed to like it. We used Spring Colored M&M’s because it was in May, but you could use holiday green and red ones too. You can find the cut tulle at a craft store like Michael’s, I think I got mine at either Target or Walmart.

I think you could do better. I’m getting truffles from Trader Joes and putting them in truffle boxes. They are imported from France and it will cost me about $1.00 to put the entire thing together for each guest. You could do something similar to this since you like chocolate too, either with Kisses, truffles or chocolate squares. Wrap in a pretty ribbon and go!

I don’t think it’s tacky, and if you want it, go for it ^_^
Here are some little mugs from oreintaltrading.com, I thought they were cute, unless you wanted something more elegant…They could go with your hot chocolate, and maybe some chocolate drizzled marshmallows or butter cookies would add a nice finishing touch ^_~

I’m ordering some flutes and putting jordan almonds in them(I’m dying them the colors), then around the bottom are going to be little teeny glass cups with buttermints and maybe some penuts in them, or chocolate/caramel drizzled popcorn.

    Hi and congratulations!

It is NOT tacky at all! Tell your friend to mind her own business. This is a favor that I WOULD use for sure….not just toss in the garbage. And, it’s perfect for the time of year!

I think you should go with it.

Good luck and I hope you have a beautiful wedding day!

Those are a really good idea. Hot chocolate is really big around the wintertime. It’s practical and pretty, something that will look nice and your guests will actually use it. Thanks for the site by the way, i’m bookmarking that one :D

Honestly, I think you should use your money elsewhere. I was on a tight budget also, so I decided not to have favors at all. They are unnecessary and are going to end up in the trash anyways.

You know something? I’m soo tired of people doing or not doing something because someone else didn’t like it. It’s your wedding, money, and plan. If you like it, do it!

I actually thought of doing the same thing for my wedding. Don’t let other people’s opinions bring you down. My family has all sorts of ideas on what I should do with this that and everything else. Its your day and you chose what you feel is right. Good luck!

No way. Its cute and creative. Its your wedding and I think you should have whatever you want. Who cares what your friend thinks, she can do what she wishes when she gets married. As long as you love it then that’s what you should do.

I think it is a great idea for a winter wedding! We are on a very tight budget as well, and you have to get creative. I am just doing little white boxes with ribbon filled with swedish fish!

Perfect choice! Don’t second guess yourself because of someone elses opinion. This is your wedding, not theirs! if she thinks they are cheap, tell her to pay for them! My only suggestion is that you order one and try it before ordering them all. They may taste old or just plain gross, so try them first!

I love the one with the mini whisk! In fact I’m going to make a note of it to discuss with my fiance as a possibility, it would go down a treat with my family

That’s so cute! My cousin did boxes of russian mint chocolates for her wedding, and it worked out great. Chocolates, especially personalized, is always a hit.

I think their cute. And everyone likes chocolate. I know I’d be happy with an edible favour. It’s not like people are going to keep the favours anyway and if they do, they usually end up at the bottom of a drawer.

I say skip favors. Waste of money. They are all pretty cheap. Save the money and put it towards something else.

what about getting some frames (there are deals at the 99 cent store where there are two for a buck) and have a picture of you and the groom. Also, you can go to craft stores where they sell little chinese take out boxes for a pack, in there, throw some chocolate, a picture and tie it with a ribbon. On the box, in your signature write your names and the date.

    Great idea!

… and, if you want to dress up your wedding favor a bit more - wrap the chocolate with a nice white ribbon!

Congratulations and may you have a magical day!
