I wondered if along with the gift table, head table, and a lighted ‘ice bowl’ for punch if it would be overkill. I hope not but thought I better get some input.
http://www.mrsweddingfavors.com/ It’s a wonderful idea! The most important thing is, if that’s what you want on your special day, you should most definitely have it. This kind of creative touch is exactly what makes a wedding event memorable. There are also quite a number of boxes, bags and other containers to package your candy gifts as well. Below are some ideas I’d suggest as candy favors for your cake and candy table:

sounds like a good idea to me.

No, cake and favours are different things. Having them both is fine. Are ppl just eating the candy there or are there bags to take some candy home? I say have bags.

Candy buffets are a HUGE hit amongst guests. More and more weddings are doing this on top of everything else they have. Not tacky at all.

we are having a candy buffet for favors as well
we’ll also be putting fruit and possibly some cookies on it as well..
so it’s a "sweet tooth" buffet type deal..
but it’s what we’re doing
I’ve seen it around alot more often now too

Not at all! I think the whole new candy buffet trend is adorable. I also think it’s far more practical to spend money on a candy buffet in lieu of favors for your guests. Not everyone wants a photo frame or corkscrew that says "John and Jane’s wedding 2009", but everyone loves a good bag of candy, especially candy they picked themselves from a buffet. That is one favor that won’t get left behind.

its fine but just done over-do it….. you have to take into consideration that you should do something healthy as well because some people strictly cant have sugar or something of that sort…..so i would mix it with something actually that they can enjoy that is healthy and then add a desert table so they can pick their choice of what they want. but you should do both…

If you have a candy buffet, look into having servers distributing the candy. The thought of a hundred other people scooping and and groping through buckets or jars of mass production candy doesn’t appeal to me as a guest. The hygeine factor skeeves me out.
Good luck!

I don’t think it is overkill at all. I love the candy buffets!

Absolutely not!
It’s a fun alternative for the favors especially if it fits in with yours and your fiancee’s whole vibe. I had a friend that did this for her wedding and had little bitty take-out boxes that her guests could load up with the treats. I would definitely have something like that or cellophane bags for guests to use.
These days I think anything goes when it comes to wedding planning, make it your own, make it fun, make it a day that you will remember…and don’t worry about what other people think, this is YOUR day, not theirs.

No, sounds fine.

I guess that I just don’t understand that whole candy buffet thing. Is this in addition to food or do you just serve candy?
My personal opinion is that it seems young and childish. Its your wedding, not a fifth grade birthday party!
But, do what you want. I guess I would like some candy too, I would just like some food. Try to make it classy and "wedding-like".

Candy buffets are always great at any wedding. Everyone from kids to the elderly line up eagerly to fill up their little bags. Don’t worry about it.

When I was planning for my wedding, I often questioned if my decisions would be deemed tacky.
In retrospect, I realized that it was MY wedding and I advise you to do whatever your heart desires.
If the people you invite are the people you love, they will appreciate and enjoy whatever you offer them.

Candy buffets (for favors) are EXTREMELY popular at receptions right now. The guests love them.
The only caveat (especially if there will be children at your reception) is to have someone monitoring the table, to hand out containers and help people get their selections boxed or bagged up.
