Homemade favors for fall wedding?

I wanted to do homemade favors for October wedding. I like ot preserve my own apple butter. Do you think small jars of that with a little card on it would be cute? Or not worth the effort?

I love it, apple butter would be perfect for fall. I originally thought about doing this for my own wedding this October. Small, individual jars would be really cute and then print up the little cards yourself. Should be relatively easy and cheap, and I’m sure very much appreciated by your guests. If you want, you could get your bridesmaids together to help you make and package it. Good luck and congrats!!

I think thats adorable! Just be warned that if you have out of town guests they will not be able to take the jar through airport security. I was given a favor of home made jam at a wedding and I was heartbroken when I was forced to throw it out at the airport.

I do think it would be very cute but depending on how many guest you are going to have it might not be worth it. My friend got married last fall and she had jars of honey because they own a bee farm and i’m sure it took them forever to put together and i still haven’t even used mine…

That would be fantastic! Such a sweet and personal touch. I’ve never been one for favors (making a candy buffet in my wedding colors for my wedding), but you won me over =]

That’s a wonderful idea. That is something that you like and are good at making so it would be personal from you and your H2B!

great touching idea, to share the love you put into your cooking and preserving with those that mean most to you. Start asap and maybe, get some silk autum colored leaves to attach to each jar with a string of rafatta. My sis got married in the fall, and we sprinkled each table with silk leaves. White table cloths with a maroon colored runner down the center and simple candles in the center. Was really nice, comfortable, semi-formal.

I think its great! Most guests like edible favors and you would just be adding a very personal touch to that! Congratulations on your wedding.

Wow!!! Sounds very nice!!! I like useful favors!!! I hate when you get the stupid jordan almonds!!! Who eats those things??

Another good idea (it is effort too though) is making soap. You can get a 5 lb glycerin tub at Michael’s (watch for the 50% odd coupon in the paper) for about $14. It will make lots of soap. The soap colorant is about $5 for a 3 pack. The scents are about $3 a bottle. You would need at least 2 bottles. They usually come in seasonal colors available all year long. Buy standard bar molds, or get a shape (like angels, flowers hearts). If you do the bar molds, they will use up more soap, so be aware of that. However, you can put dried herbs or flowers inside the bars. I used to work at Michael’s and did side work making favors for people. The soaps were always big hit.
