Bad idea. Stuff like that ends up at garage sales. Don’t give guests anything with your names engraved on it. Think about it this way: do you think that one regular, non-etched wine glass with a little tag around it that has your names on it makes a nice gift? Probably not. Don’t give your guests anything that wouldn’t be a nice gift on it’s own, without the engraving. If you can’t afford something nice or useful, give something edible like chocolates that won’t clutter up their homes.

Visit a Salvation Army or Goodwill shop, and you will see shelved crammed with personalized wedding junk. If you want to serve in nice glasses, I think that is wonderful. But spend your money on a few dozen plain (un-personalized) glasses from a restaurant supply outlet and KEEP them. They will come in handy a few times a year when you entertain, and if a few get broken it’s no big deal — you have 4 dozen more.

You don’t HAVE to do favors at all. I know that I’m not the only guest who considers the cheap little geegaws to be an annoyance to be endured rather that a keepsake to be treasured. The only favor I ever received that I really valued was a photo of my family standing with the bride and groom. It arrived with the ‘thank you’ letter and 30+ years later I still have it.

I agree with Fizzy Stuff, I would never keep a glass with someones else’s name etched in it.

FYI: i just got married and buying favors was a joke. No one cares about them. They are a waste of money. Save it and spend it on food or something of value.

You don’t want them to use them at the reception because they will get dirty and then how would they get them home? I think you should put cheap candy in them and put them at the place settings. Great choice. I would love to receive one of those as a favor. The people above who are saying that they wouldn’t want a glass with someone elses name on it are idiots. They aren’t supposed to be serving wine to guests in their homes in it. They can drink out of it by themselves or use it for some other purpose.

I think that is a cute idea…but i would check into lnt.com and they have wine and champagne glasses a set of 12 for $10. Then you can decorate them anyway you like…with a tulle baggy full of M&Ms set inside of the glass and then a little charm added to it or instead of a charm a ribbon wtih your names and date on it (you can find those alot of places)..then they can use the glass and take it home and keep on using it. best of luck!

I don’t think people want a glass with your and your husbands name on it. It may be special to the bride and groom but others really don’t care.

You should only do the personalized winde glasses for the wedding party not all of the guest. Use plastic wine glasses for the guest. And for keep sakes for them use little wine glass bubbles or take little tiny plastic wines glasses filled with candies with lace around them done in the colors of your wedding.

Sorry, I would not want a wine glass that had someone else’s name on it. It would be weird serving drinks in my home with a glass with another couples name on it.

Some would argue that your favors should not be part of your food serve. what is the ‘favor’ get broken by Aunt Jane, she now doesn’t have a memento from your wedding. I wouldn’t go that way, although it is a great idea.. maybe as a thank you gift, or Christmas Peace Ame

yeah, put a tent card on each table so they know they are supposed to take the glasses, that’s really unique and something everyone will use
