What could I use for wedding favors?

I am have a fall country wedding outside a barn. I need some ideas of what I could use for favors. Something cheap since I have a very tight budget. Any any ideas for some diy invites?

I saw a fall bride do caramel apples for the favors, yum! example: http://www.elizabethannedesigns.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/wed-fall-favor-knot.jpg
You could make these yourself a couple days ahead of time and I dont think they would be costly. :) I know walmart sells the caramel and candied apple kits.

One popular item that is cheap but still good is if you make your own caramel apples. Just go to a store and buy a lot of apples and caramel. Just add the plastic around them with a real nice ribbo. Try getting ribbon with your name and date of the wedding.

I see that others have said carmel apples. The only problem with these is that they can get expensive fast!! I would suggest try to make your own caramels. You can wrap them individually in waxed paper. Just find an easy recipe. Most you can make ahead of time and freeze (no more than 1 month).

You could do salt water taffy too. Just check for prices and you should be able to order it. This place has decent prices. http://www.taffyshop.com/

Or if you wanted to go for a more "fall" theme you could make sugar cookies. Just color you dough the colors of your wedding or fall and use fall shaped cookie cutters to cut them out. You can get bags at places like Walmart that have a twist tie top. Just put some pretty tissue paper in the bottom, add some cookies, and tie with a ribbon. You could always add a little tag saying thank you for sharing our day. Just do this off of your computer using business card paper and punching a hole in it! Sorry it was so long.. Hope it helps and congrats!

Homemade cookies or homemade caramel apples

Favors are never required and most people don’t miss them if they aren’t there. If you are on a tight budget, that is usually the first thing that is cut.

I think little mini pumpkins would be adorable favors and for invites, if you have a Michael’s art supply store nearby you, go there - they have entire do it yourself wedding invitation kits - my husband and I bought these for our wedding 4 years ago and it was so easy to type up and print off! I highly recommend it.

try googling online invitation templates .. copy and paste the wording to your own microsoft word.. buy inexpensive paper from a staples or craft store..then print them.. when you stuff them in envelopes just buy stamps that have hearts and write the names and addresses in script.. it will help the overall presentation.

Ok, everyone else thought of carmel apples too!

How about a packet of pumpkin seeds for each guest/family?

Or a cookie cutter in the shape of an apple or pumpkin, along with a recipe card that shows how to make apple bread or pumpkin bread respectively?

Or a coffee mug and a recipe card with a recipe for apple cider? You can buy the same color of coffee mugs in bulk from Wal-mart or a Dollar Store and if you can’t find enough for all your guests, you could just go by tables and choose one color mug for each table (if your wedding colors are orange and brown, half your tables get an orange mug, the other half gets a brown mug).
