Unique, creative and cheap wedding favors?

My husband is in the US army….I’m a child hood cancer survivor….just giving you those infos to maybe pop up some ideas related to that.

I want to be really creative with the favors…and something that is pretty cheap, I will probably have about 300 guests at my wedding…..I have a big family.

Our theme color is baby blue and teal….blue is our fav color.

Thank you all for taking the time to answer my question :) Oh, I’m thinking of doing those lscratch and win tickets too….is it a good idea?

I like favorfavor.com, it has cheap and neat favors.

I am doing glass baby food jars, which people will give you for free, spraypainting the lids teal, and filling them with bath salts from my fiance and mine’s favorite soap shop, which sells big scoops of salt for cheap. I will likely tie on some raffia or glue on a sea shell, with a DIY tag. I don’t know anything about the scratch and win tix.

On etsy I saw this person’s shop, they make origami cranes, butterflies, etc. I bet they could make you all teal ones if you want. Get them and type up a little thing about what the creature represents, like luck, blessings, etc, then give those as favors. Hey, you get 1000 cranes for $150, there has to be a creative thing you could do. Maybe give them away as pairs. And at least if people don’t want them they are recycleable/biodegradable.

Honestly unless you just want to do favors you could do with out the all together. I have been reading about this today and come to find out no one really pays that much attention to the favors. When I got to thinking about it I can not remember one favor from a wedding that I took with me.
If you WANT to do favors though there are tons of great ideas online.

I think the scratch offs are a great idea.. you can put them in little organza bags with a coin and tie them off with a tag that says thank you of some sorts.

I was doing little 2×2x2 clear plastic boxes filled with hershey’s kisses and their string tag thing said "Just Married" (though you could do just regular kisses and it would be less expensive) I filled the little box with kisses and tied ribbons around the boxes like a little Christmas present. You could sneak a little toy army man in there, and tie with Cancer Awareness ribbons?

What about making a donation to a children’s cancer foundation in their names?

I have to tell you the most creative party favor out there is the Video CD with your picture on it and the guests toast to you and your thank you message to the guests embedded in the credit card CD. These party favors do not get thrown away. I don’t know where you are located but they also have a do it yourself kit. I think the cost is around $500 and all you need is a laptop photo printer and webcam. There is also a random prize generator in the program - not that you want to give out money at your reception.

I found some really amazing favors for super great prices at FavorWarehouse.com. I’ll include some links below to favors that are low priced and match your colors. Hope this helps - and Good Luck with all your planning! 300 people all there to celebrate your big day is sure to be awesome :)

Blue Luggage Tags http://www.favorwarehouse.com/pc/D4245/new-for-2009/Sailboat+Design+Luggage+Tag.html I think these would be great if a lot of your guests are traveling, and if you’re having a summer wedding. They have a pretty sailboat design, and they’re $1.49 each.

Frosted Glass Votive Candles http://www.favorwarehouse.com/pc/D1029/new-for-2009/Winter+Wonderland+Frosted+Glass+Votive+Candle.html These are soooo pretty, and only 89 cents each! This pattern is for a winter wedding, but for the same price they have several other designs fitting any season. If you are having a winter wedding, check out all their ‘Winter Wonderland’ options - they are a really pretty blue that should work well with your colors, and they’re all good prices. Maybe you could even get 50 of each and have a bunch of different favors that kind of match each other :)

Beach Theme Candle Holder http://www.favorwarehouse.com/pc/D1256/new-for-2009/Beach+Theme+Glass+Votive+Candle+Holder.html These are teal, and great for summer weddings. And they’re $1.49 each.

I stumbled across, http://www.pwponline.com/ when I was on the hunt for my wedding favors. I did end up purchasing my favors from them and have actually gone back and ordered more party favors from them for an upcoming summer barbecue. I was highly impressed with their favor selection from the start and you’re bound to find something that suits to the two of you.

How about you check out these blue wedding favors. There are really adorable candles and favor boxes.

I personally love the favor box guess gift. It keeps things simple and yet you can purchase bulk nuts, candies, whichever you prefer to become your signature treat, and fill each favor box yourself. This will help to keep the costs down.

I hope this helps and congratulations and happy planning!
