Do you think its a good idea to give as a wedding favor a personalized bottle of fragrance name and date on it?

I was thinking of something unique and I came across a site that sells perfumes and colognes and I could have our names and wedding date on the bottle. I also can select my own scent, did anyone ever have something like this? If so how did it go over?

Are you ridiculously rich? lol. It sounds fun enough, but I am personally VERY picky about fragrance; I’m a snob in fact. I go to great lengths to make sure the scents I wear don’t smell like 3 million other women. So as a bride, I would find it hard to please every guest and I wouldn’t want to be judged by the scent I chose. Also think: guest’s allergies, children hosing down the reception hall with perfume, and the cost. I just think for that type of cost, you could find something better. Who’s to say EVERYONE will love or even wear the scent?

I only wear Coco Channel. I would not wear it. Honestly, favors need not be that expensive or time consuming. They usually get tossed or left behind. I always suggest the edible favors, like boxed personalized cupcakes, carmel apples covered in wedding colored chocolates. I have been to probably 40 weddings and do not have one favor, even from family members weddings. I think you could scrimp on this and save a lot of money.

ditto, I personally detest people spraying perfume around me and i can guarantee that at least one of the guests will spray it! My main reason for disliking perfume is that I have a bad reaction to most of them and if it’s in the form of an aerosol my reaction has been severe enough to warrant a trip to hospital! Only choose this sort of favor if you know for certain that there will be nobody there who suffers from any respiratory condition such as asthma or sinusitis.

It does sound a fab idea in theory, however many peoples skins react differently to perfume. My sister & I can’t wear the same perfume because what smells nice on her, doesn’t on me & vice-versa.

So be careful what you choose to do, you may go to a lot of expense & no-one can or will use it. Good luck.

I didn’t do this, but it sounds like a fantastic idea! May be a bit expensive though, but if it’s within your budget, go for it! Good Luck !

Perfume is something very personal and particular taste to each individual. What you may like, it may be repugnant to others. I wear Miss Dior, everything else smeels like horrible to me or gives me a headache.

    Good luck

Never give out something toxic. While there are a lot of people who won’t react to perfume, you aren’t necessarily going to know whether or not your guests are in that category. If there are kids, then they won’t know any better and will try spraying it in the air (because it’s a toy), and someone will be ill, and possibly need to be hospitalized if it’s severe.

Also, even in closed bottles there is normally an odour from perfume, which could be more than enough to make someone feel unpleasant, so everyone who can’t take that kind of perfume will leave it behind so they don’t get ill every time they open their purse. I’d say it’s not worth it.

While I can appreciate the idea, as someone who is allergic to everything under the sun, I would most likely have to leave immediately. And my reactions aren’t always that severe. You might send someone to the hospital. (Someone will inevitably spray it.) For severe allergies, the scent alone can cause the throat to close. It is terrifying. What if that person doesn’t have the proper allergy equipment with them? Not everyone realizes they are allergic to something and can constantly have the required necessities with them. I hate to ruin your idea, but I think it’s far too risky.

I’m guessing this is rather expensive, so why not go a different route and have your own wine made? The bottles can be personalized with pictures, dates, names, etc. And you can actually make your own wine. I was at a wedding that did this and it looked and tasted great. If someone doesn’t like this, they can always give it to someone who does. Far less risk with this idea.

I am allergic to so much perfume that I would not wear it.

That is a great idea, I love it! Can you email me the site, it may be an idea for my girls. I got them Lands End totes with their names on them since we are having a destination wedding and they can use it as a carry on the plane. I love the perfume idea.

I wouldn’t. Scent is a very personal thing. What smells good on one person stinks badly on another.
