For a 50’s themed wedding what would be a good favor idea.?

I am having a 1950’s themed wedding. I cannot think of CHEAP wedding favors to go along with the theme. We have secured a 1959 thunderbird, the men are wearing pin striped tuxes and fedoras. Its a september wedding any ideas?

I did a Yahoo! Search for 1950’s themed weddings. I came across this awesome looking site for different themes on parties and weddings. There were a few ideas for different colors and motifs. You can browse the site for other ideas.

I was also thinking that you can do different things for your favors. You can buy the normal, typical favors like candles, necklaces, and picture frames but embelish them with 50’s style scarves and sunglasses. Try wrapping gifts that you would like to give with themed wrapping paper form your local graft stores.

Check out the site for other ideas and pictures.

I don’t know why I’m thinking of dice as being 50’s but what if you took some of the little favor boxes and made them look like dice or something? You could either take little black sticker dots or use a marker or something.

As an additional thought, if you do the dice idea make the numbers the date of your wedding (3-5-6) kind of thing.

If it’s a care type of theme maybe you could get some little chocolate candies that are cars.

A good place for cheap favors is Oriental Trading.

What about a House Un-American Activities trial?
You get some of the guests to admit they are communists and then you whisk them off to jail!

They will still be laughing when they are released after 20 years…

The first thing that came to my mind were those little Pez candy holders, but I’m not sure if they came out in the 50s or 60s

Elvis drove a Pink Cadillac, so maybe buy a bunch of pink cadillac hot wheels cars?? I don’t know what else to tell you…your wedding colors would be a great help. Poodles were also popular in the fifties, so maybe do something along those lines. Or you can do checker boards.

I like the idea of making CD’s of 50’s music.. also you could make little recoreds and put some cute saying on them *cut carboard, paint black, then get single edge wire brush to scrape around * makes it look like lines in record.. or go to thrift store get some old 45’s and then re-do the labels to say your name, date and such on them…congrats on your wedding it sounds fun!

There’s so much available for this theme its unbelievable. One thing you might want at the reception, is a DJ or Karaoke expert that can play 50’s music. My daughter was married a few months ago and this was her choice of a theme. We purchased cutouts of 50’s autos, placed them in strategic areas, with full figure cutouts of Elvis, James Dean, Marlyn Monroe, Chuck Berry and Little Richard. Had large photos and movie billboards of actors and actress’s of the 50’s, like Brando in "The Wild One", "Rebel Without A Cause". "Blackboard Jungle", then added 50’s record album covers, which were lent to us by many collectors in the family, and placed them on walls, etc. After the wedding, a lot of family dressed in "poodle skirts", like on "Lavern and Shirley", guys in black t-shirts and rolled up blue-jeans and black motorcycle jackets. Believe me, there’s a lot of 50 trivia out there, and you have the time, without spending a lot to obtain these items. Good luck.

I would get pink tulle (netting) and put Good and Plenty candy in them…that way you will have pink, white and black and it will look very 50’s. Tie with pink ribbon.

well hula hoops are too expensive. Perhaps some kind of Elvis Memento? What I remember my parents bringing home from weddings in the fifties is Paper swans and little heart shaped boxes of almonds or groom cake or tuille wrapped wedding cake Wied but 50s could be Ashtrays or key chains for the men and lace trimmed hankys or fake flower corsages or a cheap charm bracelet for the women

Maybe cookies that are shaped like records, and for the
"name of the song" you put you and your hubbys name,
and the date! I suggest 2 cookies per guest. And have it wrapped in a " record cover"

There are these writable Cd’s that the top looks like a record. You could make a CD of songs for your guest that had some favorites of the 50’s.
