I’m not getting married until June 2008, But I’m trying to figure out some of the smaller things now so its less to do later. I’m wondering what a good (somewhat cheap) wedding favor would be. The theme of our wedding is (outdoor) Prince/Princess. (Elegance) Any Ideas??
a music cd! all of ur and ur mans favorite songs! everyone loves music. i have actually been working on mine for a month and its turning out awesome! on the cover it will be a collage of pictures and insted of making a song list i got creative. i wrote my fiancee a love letter and in it used every song title. then printed only the title in bold letters. they will figure it out! have fun!

A cool idea that I saw was a candy bar. You have all sorts of candy, you can get clear bags with your names and date printed on them and that could be the favor.
But if I would do again, I would do nothing. Most got left behind, no one went oh wow, and I have never had that oh wow when I went to a wedding either.
Congrats on your engagement.

I’d suggest some type of shot glass ( with you date engraved or names engraved) filled with a hardcoated pastal colored choc.mint flavored candy mints inside. They are very tasty.

The best favors are hand decorated cookies. They serve as a decoration at the tables and then a snack for the guests on the drive home. (which they will appreciate if they are staying in a hotel, have a long ride or it’s late at night).

Favors need to be edible. Non-edible favors are usually always left behind or trashed.
Since it is outside you need to avoid anything that melts like chocolate, so something like a candy bar is a very bad idea for you and would end up a sticky mess. We are having a milk and cookie bar for guests to take home for that reason instead of candy.
Another idea we had was bottles of local wine and add a custom label but it was out of budget….
An exception is something optional like a photo booth or charitable donation.

Hersheys hug and kisses. Put them in to a small gift bag and put a tag on the bag that says "Hugs and Kisses from the Mr. and Mrs."
Short, simple, and sweet!

How about a potted flower, you can get those tiny pots and tie a ribbon around it, that way people can think of you as it grows.
Or here is a site with wedding favors:

They have some really cute "happily ever after" bottle stoppers.

Or a "key to my heart" bottle opener

Congratulations and Good Luck!
I’ve also seen the programs printed on paddle fans, great on a hot day and much nicer than those "made in china" cheap fans.

Try great wedding sites for ideas. If the reception is outdoors i don’t suggest anything meltable. If the reception is indoors go for it. Favors don’t have to b edible. We bought small wedding albums (about $3 ea.) for our small destination wedding last summer. Depending on the amount of guests and your budget look for mini crowns to put out at each table setting. U can decorate with what u chose at a party supply shop. I took the liberty of looking up royal carriage candles for u and found them at weddingveil .com. Bride mags. are great for ideas.

I saw some really cute coasters that you put pictures in. You can put a picture of you and your guy, or any picture you want. It is something that people can use after the wedding. They weren’t too expensive either. Search for wedding favors and the coasters should be available on most sites. Congratulations!

I agree with Erin N……for my wedding in 2 weeks (eeeek!!!), I am also making CD’s. I wanted a functional favor that would remind everyone of their, hopefully, fun evening and our special day. I didn’t want something they would eat or just throw away. I wanted love songs from all sorts of genres so that it would appeal to the musical tastes of the majority of my guests. It doesn’t cost much to burn CD’s and you may even have a lot of songs you would want to put on them…I had a lot of the already on iTunes. I bought simple cardboard sleeves from sleevetown.com and am decorating them with a picture of our 4 dogs with signs around their necks saying "thank you for sharing our day!" I think they’ve just taken more time than money to put together and it will be a nice personalized keepsake for my guests. Best wishes!

Walk around in a good craft store, such as Michaels, and get ideas there. That way you can look at the prices as well as get ideas at the same time. That’s what I did, I used their heart tins with ribbons on it.
Good luck!

You could get like little mints with messages on them or like wine glasses with your name on them or little chocolates…

Printed M&M’s with your names and wedding date in the theme colors of your special day.. Who doesn’t like M&M’s ! I had a Vegas Wedding so at our at home reception I used chocolate coins wrapped in toile and tied with just married ribbon ! It was cheap, simple and easy.. I bought Vegas card decks from the casino’s and had them on the tables with poker chips/dice and a green felt (Ace, Heart, Diamond, Spade) I had my centerpieces colorful flowers/greenery inside casino buckets I brought home..My card collector was a slot machine I made out of mylar, cardboard boxes and a wooden dowl rod ! So, my guest took home my centerpieces and table decor. I even had an Elvis cardboard cut-out… So, be creative and have fun!

I think the way to go is food, or nice plants, but food is better. I am not a collector and never keep anything like shot glasses, mini photo frames or knick-knacks like that, they usually end up in the bin, so give people something they can eat, that always goes down well. Decorated biscuits seem to the be in thing at the moment, but good quality chocolate is also a good option.
