I am having a fall wedding in 2009 but am clueless on what favors to use. Which favors would you choose?
Candles, Candy or Mini Pumpkins
I’d go with candles that are the theme color of your wedding. Everyone loves candles, so they will be something they will use, and when they see it they will remember how great your wedding was!

Candy.

I think candles would be nice for the Fall. It’s something the guests can take with them as a keepsake. Congratulations!

Candles or candy. The mini pumpkins would be cute and seasonal, but really… Who needs another mini pumpkin? I’d rather have a candle or candy.

Do you know any men who would want candles as a favor? Or any kids? Go with candy - it’s a crowd-pleaser.

I think mini pumpkins would be cute but, just to add my input, I as a bride thought that we needed favors. Since then in my last 10 years I have been to weddings where favors were handed out and I always thought "Man, they spent so much money on this. I wish they’d just kept the money and did without the favors." It may be just me, but I would rather the bride & groom save that money since weddings cost enough as it is. Congrats!

I really like the idea of the whole mini-pumpkin thing because it fits in with the whole fall theme and it’s a really genuine idea that I’ve never seen before so it’d be unique.

I love the idea of candied apples for fall weddings. We almost did this for my wedding, but chose to do a candy station instead. You can make the apples yourself, or order them from a company like Daffy Apple: http://www.daffyapple.com/t-WeddingFavors.aspx. They will come wrapped in celophane and then you can just tie a ribbon in your wedding colors around the celophane.
If youdon’t like that idea, I would go with candy. Something edible always goes over well.

I would hollow out the mini pumpkins and use florists clay and have some fresh flowers in each of the mini pumpkins. Then you can use a florist pick and use those as your place card holders as well!
Totally cute and practical.
You could even hollow out the pumpkin and insert a tea light.
Here’s a link to a cute centerpiece and you could have the mini’s mirror this or a similiar design.

Candy or pumpkins, edible or decorative, definitely useful!
My reasoning against candles is that not everyone likes them and kids and men are not generally interested in them. I have 5 cats and I get migraines from anything artifically scented so there are no candles in my house. However, I do re-gift them to people I know who like them so they can always be given away.
If your reception venue has a theme you could always go with something along the lines of that. For exmple, we are doing a wine and cheese basket for each guest that includes a bottle of wine from the winery where our reception is being held as well as an assortment of cheeses, crackers and chocolates with some handblown glass grapes as a decorative accent.
Good luck!

I love the pumpkin idea!! I especially like the idea about hollowing out the pumpkins and putting a floral arrangement in them. Very romantic and elegant!

The mini pumpkins are cute. I would go with those if you didn’t decide to do edibles. There are so many edibles that would be perfect for fall though.
Caramel apples (either homemade or from a local apple orchard)
Mini jars of homemade apple or pumpkin butter
Mini loaves of homemade pumpkin or zucchini bread
If they’re available in your area, see if you could get apple cider or pumpkin donuts

Hershey’s kisses come wrapped in fall colors now and you can order them so that the ribbon says what you want on it!

Candy bar - I see these a lot lately and I really like them. You can find fall colored candy to use - like candy wrapped in the fall colors, skittles, etc.

Hi. Fall weddings are so beautiful!
My favorite wedding favor is perfect for fall weddings - caramel apples. You can put in a clear bag, with a pretty ribbon.
If you choose candy, consider having a candy station/bar. Pick out a variety of candies in fall colors, and put in glass bowls.
Here is a list of favor ideas.
