I am on a tight budget for my wedding and I want to give my guests nice favors, but I don’t know where to start! I was thinking I could make something to cut costs… Does anyone have any suggestions that they have used or that they have seen at other weddings?
We are having a spring wedding- We don’t really have a theme- just a traditional wedding…
What season?
For autumn I have seen a bride make caramel apples and it was such a beautiful touch and enjoyed by so many.
For spring I have seen clay pots with a bag of wildflower seeds tucked inside and a note saying "May our love grow like wildflowers. Thanks for joining us on this special day in our lives."
Are you honeymooning in Hawaii? Put packets of macadamia nuts at each setting.
If you give me more of an idea on WHEN your wedding is I can help you out with a few more ideas.

Depends on the theme of your wedding. My sister did heart-shaped cookie cutters. Cheap and cute if you’re into that. For my wedding, I ordered goodies from Oriental Trading Company. They sell all kinds of stuff in bulk, and my favors cost me less than 2 bucks a pop. http://www.orientaltrading.com
Good luck and congrats!

You can use small picture frames that can double as place card holders PLUS they can use the frame for picture(s) taken at your wedding. These frames are available in most store starting at $2.00 each, they come in different shapes, finishes and textures. You can have one per couple or one per person(budget wise- one per couple is sufficient)

I have seen at a couple of weddings where they had a packet of seeds or something really small with a little card on it with a little saying something about our new life together.
Also something that is truly a great idea is have a card at each persons place saying that a donation has been made to a charity in their honor. It doesn’t have to be a huge amount, just whatever you can afford. You don’t have to tell them how much it was for. They will love this idea. Good Luck

baby girl, mine cost $ 0.80 per gift. cool huh. miniture box that you have to make yourself. & stuff it with see’s candy tie with nice ribbons.

How about a CD? You can download songs off the Internet and burn them onto a CD. You could have each person in your wedding party choose a song that reflects you & your fiance, your friendship, or something funny!
How about a donation instread of a favor? You can print up place cards specifying the charity you choose and place a couple a each table.
Try going to a dollar store, sometimes they have candles, you could "dress" them up (ribbons, pearls).
Cookies cutters (you were "cut" from the same mold, you could add a recipe too).
Good luck!

Don’t buy cheap favors, they get trown away anyway; but you can go for creative, practical and tasteful!
Why don’t you try incense? You can buy real asian incense in bulk, and tied 4 or 5 sticks with ran organza ribbon. Tasteful, different and elegant. You can get this done for about o.35 cents a person.
Mini-chocolate boxes are other option. Russell-stover sell mini samplers of 4 chocolates a box, for about a dollar a box. You can buy them at your local suppermarket. Or youc an but chocollates in bulk (or try to make truffles your self) and place then in favour boxes.
Traditional? White almonds wrapped in tulle are unexpensive and a fun prject at home, You can make the tulle circles yourself or buy them already cut very very cheap.
Good luck yo you! Congrats!

I would do a donation to a charity. You can do the donation in any amount (lump sum), and then print a little note to leave at each placesetting that says "In lieu of wedding favors, we have donated generously to (charity name here) in honor of our guests and their presense on our big day. May one celebration give hope to many more.

What do you consider "cheap"
The average cost per favor is around $2 a piece.
For my favors, we got 210 tins with clear lids for $70 using 50% off coupons at michaels (otherwise it would have been $140) We also went to mymms.com (this was kind of a splurge for us) we bought 5 bags of m&m’s with our names and dates (you pick two colors). They are eight ounce bags. For the five bags it was 59.00
Instead of using the m&m’s you could uses jordan almonds. 5 are supposed to represent the 5 great things that marriage represents. Jordan Almonds are cheaper to get in bulk too.
If you have any questions about it, just message me about it.

I’m giving Lotto tickets. I am going to put them in a glassine envelope with a penny to scratch and a sticker on the front which reads "With a LOTTO Love!"
I also wanted to do menu cards. I couldn’t because the reception site didn’t allow you to bring in your own caterer. But if you can make your own dishes or have family make some, I thought about printing the menu on cards and placing in front of the dish for guests to take if they like the item.

take plastic spoons and dip them in chocolate, then let it hard and then wrap them tie them with ribbon and add a small business card size expressing thanks for coming. Then get some of the florist foam, and stick them in there, making them look like flowers.

Disposable cameras are fantastic, decorate them with a ribbon with your themed colors. Then you are ensured to get a ton of candid shots, all of your guests can send you the pictures that came out well. You are bound not to miss a shot:).

I am getting married in July and we also did not want to spend a lot of money on wedding favors, so what we did was bought the smaller packs of gum, the Extra kind and bought Avery labels 11/2" x 3 and printed our names, date of our wedding and we put "thank you for joining us on our extra special day", people will use gum and not just throw it away our date was on one side of the gum, our thank you message on the front and our names on the other side and then the back was not covered but it said extra total it only cost us $60 for 350! if you like the idea add a comment and i’ll respond!
