That’s all up to your parents. Favors are a great way to show share the special memories associated with the occasion with your guest. The key will be to choose something classy and simple. Something that they’ll actually enjoy or something that ties into your parents’ marriage.

I don’t think favors are necessary. However, it might be fun! Who is attending? If it is mostly family, then a favor that has your parent’s name & anniversary on it would make a good keepsake for their children & grandchildren. If not, something edible is good. I think it goes either way - not necessary, nor expected, but appreciated. I would, however, suggest something to eat, like the mints or candy bar wrapper idea. Most people going to a 50th Anniversary are probably elderly and don’t need another candle/picture frame/plant around their house.

Yes. It doesn’t have to be anything expensive, just a nice golden votive candle in a glass candle holder, is inexpensive, but a thoughtful gift. Or small favor boxes filled with gold wrapped chocolate hearts, Perhaps a 50th Photo Frame with a pic of your mom and dad…
It doesn’t have to be expensive but it’s a nice gesture.
Also I understand that they have requested no gifts. But you may want to put in the invitation, that if each guest can bring 1 carnation, and add it to a vase, that will be placed in front of your mom and dad’s table, then your mom will have a beautiful vase of flowers to remember her party and all the guests that came.

Favors are never a requirement for this type of occasion, but given the formality of the event, I would encourage them. For less expensive favors try food items such as candy. DO they have grandchildren? Get some grandkids around a table and faovrs can be made quickly! At the end of the day however, I am sure most people are there only to celebrate an amazing occasion and a true milestone for you parents. If you choose not to do favors, I doubt anyone will wonder where they are. Best wishes!

I don’t think you need favors. I think party favors are for kids parties. You could have napkins printed with their names and both the wedding and 50th anniv. date. Then if people want something they will take those.

I think favors are always a fun thing to get at any party (I give them at dinner parties.). But, I would make them a simple edible item, like chocolate, cookies, etc.

Favors never hurt as a gesture to show that you appreciate the guests showing up. But I don’t think guests go to anniversary parties for the favors, so it’s really up to you!

I think it is a matter of preference. If you were to do gifts I would do something very small, such as some candy with your parents names and dates. You can find many wrappers on ebay that you can put your own candy in. I have used them for my daughters parties and they are very cute, personal, and reasonable.
