My fiance and I are at a little stand still for wedding party favors. We are having a traditional wedding. We want it to be right. what do you think would be appropriate for gifts?
I really like edible favors. They are tasy, useful, people don't feel bad using them up or not wanting to keep them around forever, etc. I know I am hand making truffles, putting them in jewel boxes in my colors with a little note on it, and placing them on the tables at everyone's seat. Other ones I liked were little maple syrup glass bottles shaped like maple leafs (for a fall wedding lovely) . I have never been to a wedding with a candy bar but that would be fun!
my mother is suggesting a wine bottle stopper. its a washable piece that will plug up a wine bottle instead of using the ripped cork. i like the idea, and i might use it. they said its the best gift they have gotten out of all the gifts they have received from any wedding through out the years.

Try bubbles! Personalize the container with you and your hubby's names and wedding date. Also, I've seen plastic engagement rings. Really cute idea! By the end of the night everyone had a fiance! LOL.

I know this is hard to believe if you living in Bride Land but most people won't even notice whether or not you have favors. There is nothing incorrect about omitting them. If you do have them, for every "aw how sweet" spoken aloud there will be three "what the heck do I want with this junk?" silently thought. The Goodwill store is overflowing with discarded wedding favors. Use that money for something that will actually add to your guests pleasure instead of indulging in an orgy of self expression and creativity, LOL.

Favors aren't required and if you can't decide or agree on something, it is fine to skip it. Most people tend to agree that edibles are best. Cookies, chocolates, etc. Not everyone drinks wine so wine stoppers could go to waste for some people. But you could just use your favor budget to upgrade something that guests will actually enjoy such as another hour for the dj, an extra hour of open bar, or a food upgrade.

instead of giving favors to your guests who likely have had more than their fill of wedding favors why not consider donations to your fave charity? have your m.c. announce your donation during his speech - that would be the best favor you could give your guests - they'll applaud you for it and the charity will thank you for it. happy wedding.

when's the date? make your favors relevant to the season or your theme… and give out things people would actually use. i had a "winter/christmas" wedding, and i gave out glass candles, mugs, and hot cocoa for adults. the candles and mugs were tied with ribbon and sealed with monogram wax (theattic.com). for the kids, i gave them sparklers and personalized pencils (orientaltrading.com). i also gave everyone a framed photo of me, the groom, and them taken on the day. of course, this was given after the ceremony. if you have a spring wedding, you can get pottery vases and put a bag of seeds in, or you can double your centerpiece for favors… i've been to some weddings where music cds (favs of the bride and groom) were given out. also, cookie cutters with a cookie recipe because the bride was into baking. i think everything else were just junks. think about something your guests would use. or what would you want to receive as a guest?

i dont like to go to weddings and get stuff with other peoples names or picture on it…so id suggest either candy or something decorative like candles. i got plastic hearts for mine and i filled them with pink m&ms, pink mints, and a lindor truffle. i also made wedding colorbooks for the kids. for my sisters wedding she did bubbles for the kids and hershey kisses tied into tiny champange glasses.

The most traditional favor (other than the five jordan almonds in a tulle bag) is one people actually enjoy: two small truffles in a ballotin box, which is rectangular so the truffles can sit side by side. You've probably seen the Godiva versions of these with the shiny gold box, but you can easily put them together yourselves. Just make sure you're buying truffles small enough to fit a classic ballotin box … homemade ones in particular tend to be too big.
